Ferrari unveiled a new livery in Suzuka on Thursday - or rather a tweak to its classic red scheme.
There was a time however when the Scuderia did a makeover of its cars, when it raced under the banner of Luigi Chinetti's NART team in the end-of-season American races in 1964.
Following a dispute between Enzo Ferrari and the Italian National Automobile Club, the Commendatore had a fit of rage and handed over his competition licence to the venerable institution.
So officially, there were no works Ferraris entered at the US and Mexican Grands Prix, and John Surtees and Lorenzo Bandini raced in their elegant NART blue and white machines, with the former clinching the world title at the final round in Mexico City.
Ferrari's dispute with the ACI was fortunately short-lived, and the Scuderia's scarlet red livery was brought back to the fore at the start of the 1965 season.
