Verstappen on ... life as a Red Bull junior
Your self-confidence comes through to me watching from the outside, but what’s the feedback been like from within the team; from your bosses both at Toro Rosso and Red Bull?
“Yeah I think they’re very happy. I spoke to them and there were no negatives, so that’s always very positive. I just have to keep pushing and show them I can do a good job on track. So far that has been going quite well, so I just need to continue like that and I need to keep improving myself. You can’t stand still because everybody wants to improve.”
Do they give you a plan of what you need to do and a bit of a guide for what they are thinking of with your career progression?
“No they didn’t tell me, but it’s quite obvious I just need to continue what I’m doing. Then you get a lot of opportunities, that’s for sure.”
Next year looks like being a year of change for both teams assuming the Renault deal ends. Do you look at other power unit manufacturers and think about what would be possible if you had their engine?
“Of course this season I wish we had more top speed, that’s for sure, then we could have scored even more points. But it is like it is and we’ll see for next year. Nothing has been confirmed yet and I’m not really focused on that because it’s not really my job to do that.”
Staying out of the politics of it all?
“Exactly!”
