F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2023 Azerbaijan GP

Fernando Alonso (SP6, P4, 15 pts): 8/10
It's a little hard to figure out Fernando Alonso's rating this week. By his own admission, Aston Martin weren't up to the sort of pace they'd displayed in the first three races that had resulted in back-to-back-to-back podiums for the Spaniard. The annoying DRS issues also prevented them from being at their best throughout Friday and Saturday. Eighth in the sprint showdown was a disappointment despite going on to pick up P6 in the short race itself'; sixth in the main qualifying session was significantly better, and his best moment came at the start of Sunday's Grand prix when he was able to claim the scalps of both Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton. He tried hard to navigate his way around Charles Leclerc to pick up what would have been his fourth consecutive third place of the season, but in the end the cooling conditions and tight, twisty street circuit conspired against him and he had to settle for fourth instead - albeit only a second behind the Ferrari. That's really still pretty impressive, all things considered.

Charles Leclerc (Sprint Pole, SP2, Pole, P3, 15 pts): 9.5/10
To be fair, you have to accept that Charles Leclerc did everything possible in Baku given the relative performance levels of the Ferrari and Red Bull cars. He missed out on topping practice by just 0.037s to Max Verstappen but more than made up for it by capturing pole for both the sprint race and the Grand Prix. Unfortunately when it came to race pace, the Ferrari was simply outclassed by the Red Bull, especially when the latter had DRS to blast its way past at the end of the long main straight. Leclerc was picked off by Sergio Perez on lap 8 of the sprint, and by Verstappen on lap 3 of the main Grand Prix. After that there was simply no coming back to the front and Leclerc just had to dig in and salvage what he could: that was second in the sprint (thanks to Verstappen carrying damage on the RB19) and third in the GP, where he was under pressure to the end from Fernando Alonso but still successfully managed to hold on for the podium.
