Motor Racing - Formula One World Championship - Australian Grand Prix - Preparation Day - Thursday - Melbourne, Australia

Max Verstappen

The Question: Max, just on that, being just 17 years of age, flying around the world, being amongst guys that you’ve looked up to, how is it for you and taking it all in at the tender age of 17?

MV: Well, to be honest, since I was younger, I’ve never seen anything else because my Dad was doing it, I basically grew up into it. For me, it doesn’t feel like anything new, I just deal with it.

What he might have meant:

MV: Dude, it’s awesome! I’m a freakin’ F1 driver! Last year I was travelling round in a camper van that smelled of crisps and feet. This year I’m all up in business class, hangin’ with other F1 drivers, even though they’re like olllld and I don’t understand anything they say, especially when they talk about ancient history, like when Sebastian was going on and on about when he won his titles a hundred years ago or something.

But the best part is that girls will, like, totally talk to me now. Of course I still can’t talk to them but never mind at least I get to stand beside some of them now and then. That’s quite good isn’t it?
