Ferrari's new 'Sharknose' tests the waters

Scuderia Ferrari - all set to join the rear-engine revolution in Formula 1 - tested at the end of 1960 its beautiful new 156 "Sharknose" design.

Richie Ginther, a man whose testing skills were greatly valued by Enzo Ferrari himself, is seen here about to put the Italian outfit's new war horse through its paces while receiving some final recommendations from the car's designer Carlo Chiti.

On the right, future world champion Phil Hill looks on alongside Enzo Ferrari, both nonchalantly leaning against the Commendatore's 250 GTE company car.
