Schumacher beats the Professor's F1 record milestone

On this day in 2001, Michael Schumacher became the sole record holder of the greatest number of victories in Formula 1.

At the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, the Ferrari driver snatched his 52nd career win in the sport, beating the 51-win milestone previously held by four-time world champion Alain Prost.

Schumacher's outstanding run of 9 victories during the 2001 season delivered a fourth title to the F1 legend, which at the time equaled the Professor's own tally of four championship wins.
