A car's wheels will be tethered to the monocoque by three cables instead of two which can no longer go through the same suspension arm.

On the sporting side, the penalty system linked to power unit-infringement has been simplified. Drivers whose engine component has been replaced beyond the allowable quota will still receive a penalty requiring them to move back five or ten places on the starting grid (depending on the replaced part). However, a penalty in excess of 15 places will result in the driver starting from the back of the grid

Finally, race stewards may penalize a driver who doesn’t line up correctly in his starting box on the grid, which is to say in a place prohibiting the FIA transponder to function and therefore to identify "false starts”). This is to avoid drivers lining up oddly on the grid, as was the case with Sebastian Vettel at the Chinese Grand Prix last year.

In Shanghai, the German driver had largely moved away from the location assigned to him on the grid to such an extent that the Ferrari's start could not be recorded by the FIA’s detection system!

Now, a driver who positions his car on the starting grid in such a manner that the transponder cannot detect the first movement of his car on the grid after the start signal will be penalized by the FIA stewards.
