Between the lines at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton

The Question: Lewis, after your visit to the NASCAR race last week, what did you see there that would be really cool for the fans or competitors in F1?

What Lewis said: I don’t know, I’d have to really think about that. There were definitely some things that for sure they do a lot better than us. Or, whether it’s a lot better… but there were for sure things that we could learn from them. It was a great show, a great spectacle, particularly for the fans. A bit like DTM, the fans get very, very close to the garages in the background and to the drivers and… what else? Otherwise it was a really cool event. I hope I get to do one one day.

What he might have meant to say: For sure I think the enormous BBQ turkey legs they sell in the concession areas. I’m not kidding these things look less like bits of turkeys than dinosaur drumstricks. Those bad boys rule. Also being a fan of the tattooing arts, I quite liked that most of the people seemed to have more tattoos than teeth. It was a bit disconcerting that people kept calling me boy though. I wasn’t sure about that.
