Nico Hulkenberg (SP17, P18): 5/10
After a run of strong performances for Nico Hulkenberg, nothing went right for the Haas driver in Spa. A technical problem meant that he didn't get out in time to put in a final push lap in the first round of qualifying, leaving him at the bottom of the timesheets. A miscue starting his final lap in the Showdown again denied him any chance to make the cut, and so he started the Sprint from the back as well. He made minimal progress in the Sprint, and the team decided to make changes to his car overnight even though it meant breaking parc ferme rules and starting him from pit lane. The Haas' weakness with tyre degradation on long runs is well known, and there was a certain inevitability to the fact that he crossed the line in last place behind the Williams of Logan Sargeant. A day that our favourite platinum blond bombshell will be happy to put behind him.
Logan Sargeant (SP16, P17): 6/10
A wet Spa-Francorchamps simply didn't play to Williams' strength this weekend, and after some good recent performances this was one where the squad looked to be very much on the backfoot, contending for wooden spoon status with Haas. Logan Sargeant triggered a red flag in practice when he slid off in wet conditions dispatching a Pirelli hoarding with extreme prejudice, and repairs to the car truncated his time in qualifying later in the day where both he and team mate Alex Albon failed to make the first cut. A better performance in the Showdown in which he was 13th was followed by a spin and a penalty for speeding in the pit lane in the Sprint race itself, but he still finished ahead of Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda. A dry start on Sunday saw the Williams at its best and he briefly peaked in tenth having started on soft tyres, but an early stop on lap 8 dumped him to the back and the ensuing mid-race shower didn't help him make much progress thereafter.
