Daniel Ricciardo (SP10, P16): 6/10
Second race back in harness for the Australian, and a bit of a reality check as he finished well outside the points on Sunday while his AlphaTauri team mate Yuki Tsunoda managed to get a foot into the top ten. Daniel Ricciardo was second slowest in Friday's qualifying after having his best lap deleted for exceeding track limits, but he fared better on Saturday where he came close to making the second cut in the Showdown and started from 11th. He made up one place in the Sprint to finish tenth having been passed in the closing laps by George Russell and Esteban Ocon, depriving him of a point. In Sunday's race, his poor grid spot meant he was firmly stuck in traffic for much of the afternoon, making any progress a tricky and time consuming affair - especially given his lack of dry running since his return to F1 with AlphaTauri. A bit of a disappointment, but for understandable and forgivable reasons in the circumstances.
Kevin Magnussen (SP14, P15): 5.5/10
Another poor weekend for Haas as a whole, but at least Kevin Magnussen didn't have the problems of his team mate Nico Hulkenberg. He was 13th quickest in qualifying on Friday but went off and clouted the wall in the process, coming back on track on the racing line and inadvertently impeding Charles Leclerc in the process. It earned Magnussen a three place grid drop for Sunday. When it came to the Sprint, he started from 18th but blamed poor visibility on the wet track for failing to find a rhythm; when the conditions improved he made up a few places toward the end and finished in 14th. Starting the Grand Prix on the soft compound and pitting for the first time on lap 5, Magnussen benefitted when others made later stops and he briefly got into the top ten before the second round of stops dumped him back into 13th. The Haas' well-known chronic tyre wear problems contributed to the loss of two places to Zhou Guanyu and Alex Albon on fresher sets of softs in the final laps.
