F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2023 Abu Dhabi GP

Logan Sargeant (P16): 5/10
So was this the final Formula 1 outing for Logan Sargeant? His place on next year's grid remains in doubt. He improved his chances with a fine qualifying performance in Vegas only to go backwards in the race; but this time he managed to make mistakes in turn 1 on both his qualifying laps which saw those times deleted, leaving him back at the bottom in last place on the grid. That's really not good enough. An opening stint on used softs got him no where but a long middle stint on the hard compound saw him peak in 14th in a bid to stop Daniel Ricciardo scoring points for AlphaTauri. After his second stop, Sargeant put a new set to good use with passes on Kevin Magnussen, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, but it was rather too little, too late. Will we be seeing Pourchaire or Frederik Vesti in the seat in 2024?

Nico Hulkenberg (P15): 6/10
Nico Hulkenberg has had some impressive moments since replacing Mick Schumacher at Haas at the start of the year, but there were few of them to be found in this week's season finale. He was slowest in FP2 after spinning off mid-session, having missed first practice in favour of Ollie Bearman. He continued to lag in FP3, only to pull off one of those "where the heck did that come from?" achievements to make it through to the third round of qualifying later in the day. Unfortunately he lost five places at the start and made little impression on the rest of the race. Even on a two-stop strategy, the Haas continued to make a meal of its tyres. "Degradation wasn't necessarily the problem today," Hulkenberg countered. "It was just pace, we couldn't keep up with the faster cars." Yes, unfortunately we'd noticed that, too.
