Bruce McLaren was killed on this day in 1970. The New Zealander crammed a lot into his 32 years, becoming the youngest F1 race winner over a decade earlier when he was victorious in the 1959 United States Grand Prix driving for Cooper. McLaren went on found his own racing team, while as a driver his accolades include four grand prix victories, two Can-Am championships and a win in the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours. He died in a testing crash at Goodwood.
