DIAL A NUMBER

Dial 19 is the Strategy Rotary on the Mercedes. It includes 16 options and is mainly used for the ERS's harvest and boost settings. This dial sees a lot of use during a race weekend given the importance of the two MGU's (Motor Generator Unit, kinetic and heat) that make up the power unit. On the 29th lap of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton asked his engineer if he could keep his engine's optimal configuration for an additional lap in order to overtake Daniel Ricciardo, and changed this dial accordingly

The multi-function purple rotary dial (20) has various options such as EB (energy braking), TRQ (torque), or BBW (brake-by-wire). Finally, the turquoise rotary (21) shows the HPP (High Performance Powertrain) dial. Each number represents a different combination of fuel mixtures and ignition timings to suit any given scenario, including wet conditions.
