Since last year, each driver is obliged to keep the same helmet design for the duration of the championship. No more special editions, aesthetic mood changes or similar - even if Sebastian Vettel changed the design slightly for the Monaco Grand Prix.

To withstand the tests required to meet F1 standards, the outer shell of the very slim, streamlined helmets consists of nineteen layers of carbon and carbon fiber hybrid and aramid. Bell - who supply drivers including Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean - says a Grand Prix helmet weighs between 1,430 and 1,485 grams.

All manufactured to meet the standards imposed by the FIA, helmets each feature a unique design which reflect the tastes of the driver. This season, some of them have completely revised their helmets, while others have kept them almost identical...
