Logan Sargeant, Williams (P16): 5.5/10
Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way: that massive smash in FP3 was a total disaster for Logan Sargeant. It was a rookie error, but Sargeant really shouldn't be making those in his 36th Grand Prix weekend. Given that his FW46 was carrying all of Williams' lovingly crafted upgrades, it's no wonder that the team is furious and the incident has revived talk of his imminent replacement. To be honest, we expected that to happen over the summer. He missed qualifying as a result of the crash and started from the back, and then - say it softly - he actually had a perfectly decent race on Sunday, working diligently and error-free to come out on top of some not-insignificant drivers such as Yuki Tsunoda and Kevin Magnussen. If not for the fire and flames of Saturday this would have been a good weekend for Logan, rather than a cremation service for his hopes of staying in F1.
Esteban Ocon, Alpine (P15): 5/10
It would be easy to lay the blame on a poor weekend for Esteban Ocon on the Alpine A524 if not for the fact that Pierre Gasly wasn't having such a great day with the same equipment. As it is, a surprisingly lacklustre outing for Ocon only endorses the team's decision to release him, and might give those at Haas a moment's pause when they consider what they've signed for 2025. He was in the bottom four in Friday practice and duly missed the first cut in qualifying while Gasly made it all the way through to the final round to secure himself a top ten spot on the grid. Ocon's race didn't fare much better, losing a spot at the start and heading to the back of the order with his too-late pit stop on lap 30. Hard to know what the team was thinking with that call; whatever it was, Ocon couldn't deliver.
