Alexander Albon, Williams (P14): 7.5/10
One of the great "if only" questions this week centres on Alex Albon. He did terrifically well in qualifying to secure a top ten grid spot for Sunday, only to have it snatched away again when the revamped floor on the FW46 failed post-scrutineering checks. That forced him to start at the back of the grid through no fault of his own. If not for that - and if the new floor has been legal in the first place and lived up to expectations - then Albon could have been celebrating his best result of the season. Albon's driving was certainly up to the task but it was not to be, and Albon had to put a brave face on the disappointment as he left Zandvoort empty-handed.
Lance Stroll, Aston Martin (P13): 6.5/10
As we've said all too often in the past, Lance Stroll's biggest problem is his lack of consistency. He can deliver some really top-notch performances, or be totally anonymous, or throw it all away - and you never know which Stroll you're going to get until the day. In practice he was somewhat in stealth mode, but he confidently made his way into the final round and settled for joining his Aston Martin team mate Fernando Alonso on the fourth row of the grid. But he had a poor start and lost out to Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz, was overtaken by Lewis Hamilton on lap 13, and ended up dropping a further place to Nico Hulkenberg in the pit stops - where to rub salt into the wound he picked up a pit lane speeding penalty that dropped him behind Daniel Ricciardo in the final results. Meanwhile, Alonso reliably picked up a point for the team. It's a telling comparison.
