Daniel Ricciardo, RB (P12): 6.5/10
The last time Daniel Ricciardo was at Zandvoort he ended up crashing in practice and injuring his hand, which forced him out for the next five races during which he was deputised by Liam Lawson. No such dramas for the Aussie this time and he emerged from the weekend thankfully intact and in one piece. While it wasn't a great time for RB as a whole, at least Ricciardo fared better than his team mate Yuki Tsunoda even though he missed the first cut in qualifying. Assorted penalties saw him start from P13, two places behind Tsunoda. While Tsunoda tried starting the race on the soft tyres, Ricciardo played safe with mediums and fared better as a result despite dropping two spots at the start. After some great battles during the race he ended up where he had begun, but Lance Stroll's pit lane speeding penalty gifted him an extra place after the flag.
Nico Hulkenberg, Haas (P11): 7/10
It wasn't really the best weekend for Haas, but of the two drivers in the line-up it was Nico Hulkenberg who shone brightest and came closest to snatching a point for the squad. That said, his accident in FP2 has to count against him in the ratings, and even on Saturday he still looked like he was scouting for a place to have another crash. But later he managed to make the second round of qualifying and started the race from P12, immediately passing Yuki Tsunoda at the start. An early pit stop on lap 14 did him no favours, dropping him at the back of traffic and leaving him with a very long haul on the hard tyres making him a sitting duck during the final laps when Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso came calling. A valiant try, and a good drive, but in the end it was a pointless day.
