SWISS EXPRESS
Under the leadership of Frédéric Vasseur, the pace of development has increased significantly at Sauber's this season.
After testing a two-tier T-wing in Melbourne; after mounting a new front wing and modifying the S-duct outlet in Baku; after reworking the bargeboard footplate in Spain; after introducing blown axles, a new air intake in the sidepods, boomerang winglets and a new diffuser in Monaco, in France the Swiss team again altered some details of the car of Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson.
First, the floor (finally) received a vane installed just in front of the rear wheels. Its role? Deviate the airflow and generate a vortex which in its wake “pulls” the turbulence created by the rotation of the rear wheels with it.
The C37 is the only F1 car to have a vane in this location rather than a slot in the floor.
