As Porsche ponders a possible future in F1, commercial boss Sean Bratches says he would welcome the manufacturer back to Grand Prix racing with open arms.
Lutz Meschke, Porsche's financial chief met with F1 sporting manager Ross Brawn at Monza last weekend, and confirmed the manufacturer's interest in competing at the pinnacle of motorsport as an engine supplier in the future.
Formula 1 is in the process of overhauling its regulation platform and seeks to define the engine of the future, with current plans including a more simplified and less costly unit based on a V6 twin-turbo architecture.
Needless to say, Porsche's return to Formula 1, should it be confirmed in the future, would be a major coup for the sport which is targeting more manufacturer as well as independant involvement on the engine front.
"Ultimately we're trying to create a platform and environment where more engine manufacturers and brands and teams come into this sport and make it a compelling business proposition to do so," Bratches told Motorsport.com.
"As the individual who kind of runs marketing and branding at F1, the inclusion of Porsche, which is a heritage racing brand in our sport, would be highly valued."
