A deluge over Marina Bay has delayed the start of the Singapore Grand Prix.

While conditions were dry when the drivers' parage kicked off at 6 pm local time, rain clouds soon moved in and inundated the track.

The event's start procedure was scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm, but track conditions have delayed the latter.

F1 teams will be notified of the new starting procedure time 10 minutes in advance, with 40 minutes unfolding until the cars line up on the grid.

The current delay implies an 8:30 pm start,

Teams will be given 10 minutes notice before the starting procedure commences, following which there is usually a 40-minute gap between the pit lane opening and the race starting, but that period could eventually be shortened.

Update: Formation lap will begin at 21:05 pm local time (2:05 pm BST/ 3:05 pm CET)
