Whenever he revisits his storied career in F1, Lewis Hamilton never fails to mention the crucial role played by his father, Anthony.
From a council estate in Stevenage where the seven-time world champion grew up, the pair tirelessly worked their way up the ranks and to the top, with Anthony supporting his son's karting endeavor by working several jobs at a time while Lewis got the job done on Sundays.
On the day of his father's birthday, Hamilton paid a heartfelt tribute on Instagram to his original benefactor and to a man he rightly considers as a hero in his existence.
"I feel truly blessed to have a strong relationship with the most important man in my life, my dad," wrote the Mercedes driver.
"How far we have come together! The journey before Formula 1 is where my best memories are.
"Travelling around the U.K. in our old Motorhome, as a family. If it wasn’t for you I’d be nothing, thank you for being the male figure guiding me through my life.
"I wouldn’t be where I am today nor would I be the man I am today. I am forever grateful for you, I am immensely proud of you and just want to wish you a Happy Birthday Dad.
