Once upon a time, drivers headed south in the early part of the year to race F1 cars (powered by 2.5 litre engines) under the warm Australian and New-Zealand sun, and compete in the Tasman series. Pictured here is the unforgettable Jim Clark on his way to the very last win of his career, at Warwick Farm on February 18 1968, at the wheel of his Gold Leaf-liveried Lotus. Alas, the great Scot would lose his life a few months later, in April, during an obscur F2 race at Hockenheim.
