Between the lines at the Hungarian Grand Prix

Motor Racing - Formula One World Championship - Hungarian Grand Prix - Preparation Day - Budapest, Hungary

Romain Grosjean

The Question: Question to Romain. In 2010 you had the opportunity to drive a Ford GT car in Le Mans. Next year Ford is coming back – are you interested in that, driving again in Le Mans? And are you allowed to do that?

What Romain said:

RG: Well, of course that experience was a great experience. If I do it again Le Mans it would be LMP1 because I got tired of watching the mirrors in the night, and the day. I was quite jealous of Nico winning the race, I think all of us, but, to be fair, I haven’t thought about it.

What he might have meant to say:

RG: My response to that is that the World Endurance Championship is a very exciting championship, with great racing – even at those 6-Hour races no-one really cares about – outstanding technology, fantastic manufacturers and great drivers. In all, it represents a marvellous arena in which to race if you are a Formula One driver who appears to be running out of time and options at the very top level. So in light of that fact I think it would be thrilling for a superannuated F1 driver or one whose F1 star is in the descendant. It certainly beats the s**t out of that Formula E thing.
