SHAPED LIKE A WATER DROP
A bird eye’s view of the RB13 further reveals the compactness of the car’s engine cover, whose water drop-like shape aims at reducing as much as possible drag, which will increase in 2017 due the mandated bigger wings and wider tyres. This will hurt straightline speed, even more so when one does not have the most powerful engine on the grid.
The neat package put together by head of aerodynamics Dan Fallows and his fellow chassis engineers Rob Marshall, Pierre Waché and Paul Monaghan also increases the downforce coming from the diffuser.
