Analysis: Ocon narrowly on top
The points are very evenly shared between Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez, but that hides the fact that Ocon has been the more consistent performer in both qualifying and race trim. Perez had a stand-out race in Baku but otherwise has looked somewhat in his team mate's showdown this season. Perhaps he's been distracted by all the background financial tumult at Force India; certainly the team's situation is having an adverse effect on both drivers' capacity to deliver strong performances, with a marked downward turn in recent races that shouldn't be taken as the fault of either Ocon or Perez themselves. If the crisis can be dealt with maybe we'll finally get a truer picture of their respective forms in the second half of the season.
