F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2021 British Grand Prix

Mick Schumacher (P18): 4/10
This was not a good weekend for Haas, and for Mick Schumacher in particular who up to now has been seen as the 'talent' in the driver line-up while Nikita Mazepin is there to pay the bills. But this weekend it was Mick who was struggling: he was just ahead in practice and qualified ahead of Mazepin, but the pair then tangled in an entirely unnecessary accident at the start of the sprint race that suggests those fractious internal team relations are yet to be addressed. And then in the main race, Schumacher ended up second-best to the Russian who was able to find speed from the VF-21 that eluded Mick. "We were struggling with tyres and the approach that we had," he reported afterwards. "It seems like Nikita was pushing a bit harder in the first few laps and still managed to keep his tyres in the window. I will have to analyse how as there was a lot of margin for me to go faster." Yes, and quickly too, please - Mick can't afford for this to become a habit.

Nikita Mazepin (P17): 4.5/10
It wasn't a good weekend for either of the Haas drivers, but Nikita Mazepin gets an extra half point over Mick Schumacher for beating his team mate on race day. Overall Mazepin seemed to be well suited to Silverstone at a circuit he knows well from his Formula 2 days, and also to the weekend's new sprint qualifying format as a whole. Although he was inevitably last in qualifying, he was still upbeat about his performance: "One of our better qualifying performances in terms of the balance!" Sprint qualifying started badly with a clash with Schumacher that sent him spinning despite promises from team boss Guenther Steiner that this sort of thing was behind the pair. But on Sunday, Mazepin found one of his best performances of the season so far to out-perform Schumacher with a successful pass on lap 27 that he held on to for the rest of the afternoon: "I used a lot of my tyres but then I put in probably my best overtake in the last three years!" he proclaimed.
