F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2021 British Grand Prix

Yuki Tsunoda (P10, 1 pt): 7/10
While not the greatest weekend for Yuki Tsunoda, he capped it with a solid race day performance and came away with a well deserved championship point after a late setback for his AlphaTauri team mate Pierre Gasly. Tsunoda had missed the cut at the end of the first round of qualifying on Friday which rather tempered what he could so in Saturday's sprint qualifying, and Sunday was all about making the best of a disappointing 16th place on the grid. The first half of the race was uneventful and he spent it staring at the back of George Russell, but once released by the Williams' pit stop on lap 18 he was finally able to make some decent progress. Impressively, he made his medium tyres last all the way until lap 38 which translated to 13th place when he came back out on track behind Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn was subsequently spun out by Sergio Perez, and the Red Bull then took itself out of contention with a strategic late extra stop with four laps to go. That meant a puncture for Gasly promoted Tsunoda into the points in time for the finish: "I tried to stick to the plan," he said later.

Esteban Ocon (P9, 2 pts): 7.5/10
After a pretty poor few weeks in France and Austria, Esteban Ocon finally seemed to be on the front foot again this weekend. He was quicker than Alpine team mate Fernando Alonso in Friday's practice session, although neither driver made it into the final round of qualifying. Ocon was then fourth quickest on final practice and went on to pick up three places in sprint qualifying, with another position gained thanks to George Russell's overnight penalty. He lost out to Kimi Raikkonen at the start but repaired that damage soon after the restart, only to be passed by Lance Stroll instead. He spent the next 15 laps staring at the back of the Aston Martin before pitting on lap 20 which dropped him behind the recovering Sergio Perez. Much of the rest of the race saw him trailing Pierre Gasly, but when the AlphaTauri suffered a puncture and had to make a pit stop with five laps remaning it was to Ocon's advantage and handed him an extra point for ninth at the line.
