Daniel Ricciardo (P16): 4.5/10
We fear that this might be the weekend that puts the final nail on the coffin of Daniel Ricciardo's F1 career. After his slump at McLaren, a return to the Red Bull fold at RB seemed to offer him a chance of redeeming himself and proving that he was back to his old self. That confidence was shaken with a lacklustre performance in Bahrain, and now there's further evidence that Ricciardo is simply no longer able to deliver. He qualified in P14 while his team mate Yuki Tsunoda made it through to the top ten pole shoot-out and showed no signs of pace in the race, slipping down the order even before his late spin left him behind the Williams of Logan Sargeant. Overall it was bad enough to wipe even that famous high beam smile from Ricciardo's face.
Yuki Tsunoda (P15): 6.5/10
We have some sympathy for Yuki Tsunoda this weekend, who was impressive enough in qualifying where he got through to the final pole shoot-out round and duly picked up ninth place on the grid for Saturday. Unfortunately he then had his race effectively ruined by the Haas team's tactics to have Kevin Magnussen back up the field in order to make space for Nico Hulkenberg to pit and come out in the points. He tried his best to pass Magnussen but the Dane was having none of it, and short of having a massive accident there was little Tsunoda could do except remain stuck in the train of cars all the way to the finish. To rub salt in the wound, a post-race penalty for an unsafe pit release demoted him another place.
