Alexander Albon, Williams (P12): 6.5/10
We've seen for some time now that Williams have fallen away in terms of development this season, and Alex Albon is trying to eke out what he can from the FW46. But in all honesty there's very little there. He did at least make the first cut on Saturday but even that is getting increasingly difficult. He just missed out on Q3, but ultimately still started from inside the top ten thanks to Max Verstappen's grid penalty. However, points were always going to be a bit of a reach: the team tried to shake things up with an early stop, but the second service dropped him to 16th and from there it was a slog to work his way forward ad make any progress in the traffic.
Lance Stroll, Aston Martin (P11): 6/10
Although he was marginally quicker than Fernando Alonso in practice, Lance Stroll never looked in top ten form at Spa. While he made the first cut in qualifying, he was slowest of anyone in the rain-hit second round. He got stuck behind Daniel Ricciardo on the opening laps of the race, so when his own pit stop came it dropped him right to the back of the grid. He was complaining about the pace of the Aston Martin on the straight and was heard fuming over the team radio as the race simply slipped away from him as the afternoon wore on. As usual, Alonso might have started the weekend slower but his experience gave him the edge when it mattered to qualify and finish in the top ten for points, a lesson that Lance still has yet to learn despite 157 race starts under his belt.
