Alfa Romeo unveiled on Tuesday an image of its all-new 2022 car, its Ferrari-powered C42.
Sauber which operates the Alfa F1 team announced a new partnership with WildBrain CPLG, one of the world’s leading entertainment, sports and brand licensing agencies, that will handle all brands belonging to the Sauber Group and assemble a strategic cross-category merchandise range for Sauber across multiple categories.
Perhaps more interesting was the fact that the announcement was accompanied by what was presumed to be a dark rear-view shot of Alfa's 2022 charger for which the Swiss outfit has yet to announce a presentation date.
Although Alfa Romeo's 2022 car will still be powered by Ferrari's hybrid engine, the Hinwil squad has opted to design its own gearbox and rear suspension ensemble rather than rely as was previously the case on elements supplied by its engine partner.
As Alfa Romeo's technical director, Franco-German engineer Jan Monchaux led once again the team's design efforts for its C42 that will be entrusted this season to the experienced Valtteri Bottas and to Chinese rookie Guanyu Zhou.
Alfa's team with Frenchman team boss Fred Vasseur remaining at the helm tackles the 2022 season under F1's new regulations with a fresh identity in the shape of a new team name - Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN - and logo.
"The launch of an updated name represents a new approach for the team, just as the sport enters a brave new era with its new regulations, while at the same time preserving the links to the recent past," said the Swiss outfit.
"It's an identity that conveys a strong statement of commitment from the team’s title partners, Alfa Romeo and ORLEN, which remain with the team in long-term relationships and continue to push the team forward."
