Aston Martin F1 reserve Felipe Drugovich will drive for Maserati at Formula E's upcoming rookie test that will take place next Monday at Berlin's Flughafen Tempelhof track.

The 22-year-old Brazilian, the winner of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship, aspires to step up to a race seat in Formula 1 next season, although his chances of joining the grid with Aston currently appear remote.

But Formula E could present itself as a viable option for Drugovich.

"Formula E is a category that has always fascinated me, and it will be intriguing to experience the differences of a fully-electric car in comparison to the single-seaters I’ve raced in recent seasons," he said.

"Knowing that I will be playing an active role in the development of such an iconic brand, in its first season back in World Championship motorsport, is a huge honour."

The Maserati team, which is currently tenth in Formula E's constructors' standings with Eduardo Mortara and Maximilian Günther, will also entrust one of its cars to Formula 3 rookie Hugh Barter

"I’ve really enjoyed my experience in the sim so far and I can’t wait to get out on the track in Berlin," said the 17-year-old Australian-Japanese charger.

"Working closely with James, Edo and Max will be an invaluable learning experience for me, especially at this stage of my career."
