F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2020 British Grand Prix

Daniil Kvyat (Retired, Lap 11): 6.5/10
Daniel Kvyat looked a bit subdued this week, which is not all that surprising given that he knew he would be starting the race with a five place grid penalty for a premature gearbox change ahead of the British GP weekend. He was mostly level-pegging with his AlphaTauri team mate in practice (although he was not able to show his pace on Friday afternoon) but couldn't match Pierre Gasly when it came to qualifying. However he made up for it on Sunday with a terrific start that propelled him up to 14th place by the end of the first lap, and he continued to make progress over the course of the next ten laps - until his race ended abruptly when he spun off into the barrier at turn 10. He initially blamed himself for getting distracted, but analysis of the video footage gave him the consolation knowledge that it had actually been a technical failure on the rear right of the AT01. If the team can avoid a repeat of that next weekend, then maybe Kvyat's second outing at Silverstone will prove more productive.

Kimi Raikkonen (P17): 5/10
Alfa Romeo had a bit of false hope on Friday when Kimi Raikkonen ended the afternoon practice in a lofty tenth place on the timesheets, but all that speed evaporated on Saturday and he was only 18th and just behind his team mate in qualifying. He blamed Esteban Ocon for blocking him, but it's still not the sort of thing you expect from a former world champion. And then it went downhill from there on Sunday, sliding backwards until he found himself fighting it out for position with the two Williams drivers - and losing at that. Just when it looked like things couldn't get any worse for the Finn, his front wing failed with eight laps remaining and after helping out the local marshals with a bit of impromptu lawn mowing he headed to pit lane for service meaning he finished the race as the only car off the lead lap. We're trying to find any silver lining in this stormy vista but frankly there's just nothing to make this look any better than the dismal day of the office that it was for the Iceman.
