F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2020 British Grand Prix

Esteban Ocon (P6, 8 pts): 8/10
Esteban Ocon certainly showed a battling spirit this week at Silverstone, although the weekend as a whole was a bit of a slow burn for Renault before finally coming good. Ocon was outside the top ten in FP2 and FP3 but bounced back to make it through to the final round of qualifying and pick up ninth place on the grid for Sunday's race. After the safety cars and pit stops he was down just one place in tenth and this gave him the basis upon which to mount a strong second half of the Grand Prix. There was a hard-won pass on Lance Stroll on lap 46 and two bonus positions subsequently handed to him in the last couple of laps thanks to the tyre woes of Valtteri Bottas and Carlos Sainz, meaning that he crossed the line in sixth place having stayed comfortably clear of the late-charging Pierre Gasly.

Lando Norris (P5, 10 pts): 7.5/10
Early on in the weekend, Lando Norris looked to be struggling to find the pace he needed to succeed at his home circuit, and it wasn't until final practice than he finally cracked the top ten on the timesheets. He was then once again a star performer in qualifying, and his final flying lap put him just ahead of McLaren team mate Carlos Sainz on the grid. Unfortunately as we've seen several times in the past Norris lost places off the line to Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo at the start. He did manage to get back past Ricciardo at the restart following the second safety car, only for the Aussie to wrest it back four laps from the finish. Even so, with Sainz suffering a late tyre failure and the same issue afflicting for Valtteri Bottas, Norris ended up in a strong fifth place despite not indulging in those late race heroics that have lately become his trademark.
