F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2020 Russian GP

Daniil Kvyat (P8, 4 pts): 7.5/10
Not only was it Daniil Kvyat's home race this weekend, there were a decent number of fans in the grandstand to watch their local hero at work - and fortunately, the young Russian didn't disappoint. A good early showing in practice suggested that he might have a shot of getting through to the final round of qualifying but in the end he fell short - unlike his AlphaTauri team mate - and had to settle for 12th place on the grid alongside Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. He got no help from the eventful opening lap of the race, but the team had started him on hard tyres that enabled him to stretch his first stint all the way to lap 30 before trading them in for a set of mediums. By that point he had been nudging into the top four, and while the pit stop saw him fall back to eighth place he was now well set for the run all the way to the chequered flag. He kept the Likes of Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon and Lando Norris at bay with relative ease, but wasn't able to do anything about dispatching Esteban Ocon ahead.

Esteban Ocon (P7, 6 pts): 8/10
Esteban Ocon is still struggling to match his Renault team mate for single lap pace: on Friday, Daniel Ricciardo was in the top three in both FP1 and FP2 but Ocon was half a second slower than the Aussie. He was able to stretch his legs in final practice, but Ricciardo had the upper hand again when it came to qualifying two hours later. The good news is that both cars made it through to the final round and took solid starting positions in the top ten, and on the preferred odd-numbered side of the grid. Ocon used this to great advantage to pass both Ricciardo and Sergio Perez in the eventful first lap before the safety car was deployed. He maintained the position through to his pit stop on lap 18, which saw him come back out on track behind Sebastian Vettel. When he couldn't find a way past the Ferrari he was asked to give Ricciardo the chance to try, and when that worked out to Renault's satisfaction Ocon himself was also able to pick off the four-time world champion. Unfortunately Charles Leclerc was not such an easy target, and Ocon spent the remaining 24 laps unable to make further progress and instead ensuring that he fended off attacks from Daniil Kvyat all the way to the finish.
