Yuki Tsunoda (P14): 6/10
Yuki Tsunoda has been looking much calmer, mature, less accident-prone in his sophomore season, but this weekend's race was a definite backwards step to the bad old days. Taking our your own team mate with a mistake in the middle of an overtaking battle that was quite unnecessary in the first place is pretty much the worst case scenario: even a first year rookie would expect the hairdryer treatment from his boss after that sort of first year rookie error. One can only assume it was a rush of blood to the head. "I need to review it properly but at the moment, I think I could've waited for another opportunity to pass him" he said in something of a masterclass of understatement. It's a shame because when it happened, both Tsunoda and Gasly were running in the top ten and looking good for a double points finish. That grinding you hear in the background isn't track crews smoothing down the circuit, it's Franz Tost's teeth.
Daniel Ricciardo (P13): 3.5/10
We're at a loss to state just how badly this weekend went for Daniel Ricciardo. True, he didn't get too closely involved in any of the major incidents that took place in the race. But the fact remains that he was the penultimate finisher in the race and the only driver he beat had spun, taken out his team mate, damaged his car and incurred a five second penalty. Meanwhile the McLaren couldn't even manage to launch a successful strike on Nicholas Latifi in the Williams running right ahead of him. An uncharacteristically woeful display from the Aussie, who can't even blame a poor performance from the MCL36 as defence given his team mate finishing in the top six. A poor qualifying session hadn't helped in the first place, but it's just a part of what is looking horribly like a death spiral potentially marking the imminent end of Ricciardo's F1 career.
