HEAT TRANSFER
Apart from their structural function, the rims play a crucial role in the management of tyre temperature.
Through their interior surface (equipped with corners at Ferrari and Mercedes), they dissipate the heat released by the brake discs in order to transmit the desired quantity to the tyre.
In Belgium, the Silver Arrows were equipped with new rear wheels. The ribs added to the outer wall contribute to the heat transfer from the discs to the carcass of the tyres. On the Red Bull, the outer wall is striated to obtain the same effect.
