DOUBLE VORTEX
In the Belgian Ardennes, the W09 sported a version of the front wing equipped with a second r-cascade. This configuration was tested in July during the tests organized following the Hungarian Grand Prix.
This vane generates a vortex intended to counter the turbulence produced by the rotation of the front wheels. By splitting this appendix, Brackley's aerodynamicists are looking to create even more "outwash" around the tyre. These appendices will be banned next year.
