Following an exclusive agreement with Formula One, social media outlet Twitter will stream a live post-race show starting from next month's Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.
Through the sport's official @F1 Twitter account, its current 3.63 million followers will enjoy live interviews with drivers, team bosses and personalities during a post-race show hosted by British presenter Will Buxton.
In addition to Spain, the @F1 Twitter show will also air after nine other races this season and feature the presence of 2016 F1 World Champion Nico Rosberg.
"It is good to see the new direction of F1 across digital, as a key channel to engage with fans and future fans of the sport," commented Rosberg.
"I was delighted to join this programme when F1 asked me to participate. I love F1 and I believe that we can grow the sport through digital engagement."
Twitter's exclusive content deal with Formula One will extend beyond the live show and include the distribution on the social media's platform of post-race highlights, providing fans with a vast array of on-track highlights, and advertisers an opportunity to reach a dedicated F1 fanbase at scale.
"Given how well their platform caters to driving conversation around global live events, the strategic fit was perfect," said Frank Arthofer, Formula One’s Director of Digital and New Business.
On Monday, The Walt Disney Co, the owner of ESPN, and Twitter entered into an agreement to create content and shows specifically for the social media platform.
