Ahead of his team mate in qualifying as well as early on in the race, Pascal stubbornly stayed out on full wets, hoping to switch directly to slicks. He finally had no choice but to take on intermediates, which forced the German to keep one eye peered in his rear view mirrors and the other focused on the blue flags.
