Kimi’s fifth podium of the year was not a foregone conclusion after a mediocre showing in qualifying and a slow start. Gradually the Iceman picked up the pace to catch up to and dispose of Bottas. He would’ve been on the podium on merit had he not moved over for Vettel. He tried to slow down Verstappen in the final run through the triple-apex right hand sweeper, but was shown the door by the 20 year old.
