Musical chairs: the 2019 driver line-up takes shape

Renault

CONFIRMED

Daniel Ricciardo
The biggest shock so far of this year's driver market. A free agent at the end of this season, Daniel Ricciardo had been expected to extend his long association with Red Bull after exploring possible openings elsewhere on the grid for 2019. He surprised everyone on Friday by announcing his move to Renault. Is this the result of his doubts about Red Bull's new Honda tie-up, or just a case of the Australian seeking pastures new? Either way, it's a done deal.

Nico Hulkenberg
Nico Hulkenberg signed a long-term deal with Renault in 2017 so it would have been a huge shock if he were not to remain with the team for a third season. He posted a picture of himself and Ricciardo on social media welcoming the Australian to the team in 2019; the only question now is whether Hulkenberg will find himself a de facto number two driver next season now that Ricciardo's on board.
