Mick Schumacher (P18): 6/10
Mick Schumacher was a bit of a star of first practice on Friday, putting the Haas into a very decent 16th place above both Williams and even a McLaren. Unfortunately business as normal resumed later on when he was stuck at the back with his team mate Nikita Mazepin in qualifying. Hopes that he might have a better chance to show what he can do in the sprint race came to nought, and when the main event started on Sunday he ended up running into the back of Kimi Raikkonen just an hour after the pair had been happily reminiscing about Mick's father in the pre-race build-up. Schumacher limped back to pit lane with his front wing tucked beneath his car which cost him a bunch of time and meant he finished the race behind Mazepin. Even so, he as in good spirits: "I really enjoyed that one," he insisted. "We learn from these things and any battle that I get is really useful. A lot of positives that we can carry away."
Nikita Mazepin (P17): 5/10
Last in FP1, last in qualifying, last in FP2, and last in the sprint race. Is there a pattern forming here for Haas' Nikita Mazepin? Maybe, but the Russian rookie was able to buck the gloomy trend at the start of the race and was an impressive 14th place by the end of the first lap, gaining multiple places in turn 4 despite struggling for grip at the start. Unlike the earlier sessions he had also found a way to manage his tyres to avoid overheating, and in a rare display of good manners and magnanimity he even complimented the team for giving him a great car this weekend. Unfortunately that car still wasn't good enough to sustain a race-long assault and he inevitably sank towards the back, although at least he had the satisfaction of beating Mick Schumacher after his team mate suffered early front wing damage requiring an emergency pit stop at the start of the race.
