Kevin Magnussen (Sprint P16, GP DNF, 0 pts): 5/10
A year ago, Kevin Magnussen was on pole in Brazil. No chance of that this year, although the Haas did show some bursts of speed before the inevitable problems with tyre degradation put them into reverse. Magnussen blamed a Ferrari for his Q2 exit in qualifying and did better in the Showdown, but despite trying to mitigate their tyre problems by running mediums he had a pretty dreadful Sprint. Even so, it was still better than Sunday where he was clipped into a spin by his team mate and collided with Alex Albon, meaning he was out of the race before the first corner.
Zhou Guanyu (Sprint P17, GP DNF, 0 pts): 5.5/10
Zhou Guanyu suffered in qualifying and was the slowest man in Q1. "We didn't have much pace, nothing would have been enough to go further," he admitted gloomily. There was little improvement overnight before the Sprint events and he made hardly any progress in the race, never close to getting into the top ten. He had a better time on Sunday, with the multiple early retirements leaving him with a chance of the points until he was called into the Alfa Romeo pit box to retire the car because of a technical issue with the engine. "It's infuriating," was his understandable reaction.
