Oscar Piastri (Sprint P10, GP P14, 0 pts): 6.5/10
Not one of the Aussie rookie's best weekends. Oscar Piastri made it through to the final round of qualifying on Friday but the abrupt change in conditions led to him spinning off. The ensuing yellow flags compromised those drivers yet to complete a lap, and left Piastri himself without a time. On Saturday a solid start to the Sprint was undermined by a mistake at turn 4 leaving him in tenth which was where he had started, after enjoying a fun scrap with Daniel Ricciardo. In the race, his P10 grid spot put him in the wrong place at the wrong time and he was rear-ended in the first corner multi-car accident. Although McLaren got the car repaired in time to take the restart from pit lane, the MCL60 was clearly heavily compromised and unable to do much more than make up the numbers.
Daniel Ricciardo (Sprint P9, GP P13, 0 pts): 6/10
After celebrating points in Mexico, things just didn't quite come together for Daniel Ricciardo this week and he was continually frustrated when greater things - not to mention some points - were tantalisingly close, but ultimately out of reach. Both he and AlphaTauri team mate Yuki Tsunoda failed to make the first cut in qualifying but showed much better pace on Saturday to make the final round of the Showdown. Unfortunately he was bumped out of the top eight (and the points) in the Sprint itself by Carlos Sainz. On Sunday his already poor grid spot was made worse by having his rear wing crushed by a flying tyre carcass in the initial multi-car accident. He restarted the race from pit lane, the AT04 too compromised to make much impact.
