Pierre Gasly (P12): 7/10
After an abject start to the season, Alpine are finally perking up and showing distinct signs of life. Although the honour of picking up the team's first point of the season went to Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly was also looking much improved in Miami and narrowly out-qualified his team-mate for the first time on Saturday afternoon. The pair then fought a fierce wheel-to-wheel battle early in the Grand Prix and it was Ocon who came out on top and went on to finish in the top ten, while Gasly was circulating in good midfield company but remained tantalisingly out of reach of making it an Alpine double points finish in P12.
Nico Hulkenberg (P11, 2 pts): 7.5/10
Nico Hulkenberg had his moments in Miami, just not enough of them in back-to-back rapid succession to translate that to the sort of sustained success Haas had been hoping for in their home race. He qualified in tenth for the Sprint and benefitted from the multi-car incident at the start that put two cars out of the race and sent Fernando Alonso to the back, allowing him to finish in the top eight and claim two points. In Sunday's Grand Prix he was able to ambush Lewis Hamilton on lap 2 and defended robustly from counterstrikes until lap 10. He then lost a number of places in rapid succession and was never able to recover, with the timing of the real and virtual safety cars not coming to his aid this time.
