Kevin Magnussen (P12): 7/10
After his riot of penalties in Miami, this was a very different Kevin Magnussen on show in Imola, practically walking on eggshells and doing his utmost not to get into any trouble that might trigger a one-race ban. The way he leapt out of the way of the race leaders in Sunday's race was testament to an abundance of caution. Actually he should try it more often, because the more nuanced and measured approach suited him. Ironically the one incident he was involved in saw him as the innocent party when Oscar Piastri impeded him coming out of the pit lane in the first round of qualifying. It compromised the Haas driver's grid position: from P18, finishing in 12th was actually a really good result at Imola.
Nico Hulkenberg (P11): 7/10
After a slow start on Friday morning, Nico Hulkenberg finished the day in the top ten and carried that through to final practice and all the way through to Q3 in qualifying, proving once again that he has definite skills in straight line speed trials that Audi are going to find very useful in 2025. He got a good start to the race and jumped both RB cars on the first lap, but pitted on lap 13 which dropped him down into the crowded midfield in 15th place behind Yuki Tsunoda. He made some progress as other cars made later calls to pit lane, but realistically could do nothing about stopping Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll passing him on much fresher tyres before the chequered flag.
