F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2024 Spanish GP

Lance Stroll, Aston Martin (P14): 5.5/10
Aston Martin was another team struggling to find their form this weekend in Barcelona, with Lance Stroll in particular unable to make much progress after finishing P18 at the end of Friday's practice sessions. Despite that, he managed to survive the first cut in qualifying and started the race from 14th, peaking in the top six before making his first pit stop on lap 17. After that he found himself stuck behind Sauber's Zhou Guanyu for much of the remainder of the afternoon. There was little he could do except make sure that Daniel Ricciardo didn't have any opportunity to pounce in the closing half dozen laps, and he ended the race in the same position he had started.

Zhou Guanyu, Sauber (P13): 7/10
Zhou Guanyu was in the bottom five in all three practice sessions this weekend but somehow managed to scrape through to the second round of qualifying and put himself into P15 on the grid for Sunday's race. Along with Yuki Tsunoda, he was the first driver to pit for medium tyres in the race which put them both at the back, but soon others were pitting and Zhou was moving on up. By the end of his extended second stint he was inside the top ten. Of course that was undone by his final service but it was a better pit strategy than the one handed to his Sauber team mate Valtteri Bottas and overall it was a solid, composed performance from the Chinese driver this weekend.
