2016 German Grand Prix - Driver ratings

Motor Racing - Formula One World Championship - German Grand Prix - Race Day - Hockenheim, Germany

Valtteri Bottas - 9th place, 2 points - 7/10

Tough to mark Bottas down despite the disappointing end to his race, which was down to strategy rather than his driving. Started well and ran in seventh place for the majority of the race as Williams tried to make a two-stop strategy work. That required a 34-lap stint on soft tyres to make it to the end of the race. Pirelli’s guideline maximum stint on the soft was 29 laps and it came back to bite Williams, with Bottas describing it as “way too long” which left him powerless to defend against Hulkenberg and Button.
