Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault and Williams elected to go down a different path in that area, albeit with the same goal in mind.
They used a rear wing of which the main tier is curved, like a spoon. They mounted a curved rear wing. The angle of attack at sides of the main plane is low, while it remains high in the middle part so as to keep some downforce.
Toro Rosso meanwhile stuck to its curved wing, albeit with a reduced angle of attack, there again in a bid to curb drag.
