GRADUAL COMPLEXITY
For the second time this season, McLaren has restructured its sidepod vanes, the purpose of which is to isolate the airflow going along the sidepods from the dirty wake created by the rotation of the front wheels.
At Sakhir, McLaren removed the vane that was attached to the corner of the floor to replace it with a more conventional panel consisting of two elements.
The version introduced last weekend in Barcelona has a third vertical element, attached to the corner of the floor (compare the white arrows).
Little by little, McLaren is getting closer to the design adopted by most other teams, but without reaching the same level of sophistication.
